Participatively plan, simulate and design flexible and demografierobuste forms of assembly organisation
The adaptability of manufacturing companies to changes in the market is an essential prerequisite for maintaining and strengthening competitiveness. Due to increasing market dynamics, companies in all sectors are faced with the challenges of permanent pressure to innovate in production, a continuously increasing number of variants, unpredictable customer requirements, shorter product life cycles and strongly fluctuating sales figures. In addition to these flexibility requirements, demographic developments mean that companies in Germany have to meet market demands with an increasingly older and heterogeneous workforce. With its solution approach, the FlexDeMo project opens up potential for flexibilisation for employees and companies. In addition, the innovative linking of organisational, information technology, ergonomic and qualification design aspects promotes the health of employees through prevention and develops new competences in the work process.
Aim of the research project
The joint project aims to enable companies to identify highly flexible and demographically robust forms of assembly organisation in a participative planning approach and to be able to examine the effects of new assembly concepts simultaneously in a productivity and personnel-oriented view using simulation-supported digital planning. The provision of a web-based planning system opens up great design potential for companies that have not been able to use these digital support tools so far. By selecting a suitable form of assembly organisation, the basis for the transformation towards customer-specific value creation is created. This increases flexibility for companies and employees. At the same time, taking into account the requirements of the relevant stakeholders as early as the concept development stage increases acceptance and enables a demographically robust assembly design.
Added value for society
In addition to the direct benefit for the companies involved in the project, scientific findings are generated which, in combination with a freely available digital planning system, represent a benefit for the general public beyond the project consortium. The result is a comprehensive solution that describes the path starting from an actual recording of the assembly situation via several alternative, initial principle sketches up to the holistic simulation of selected assembly concepts and thus provides a sound basis for decision-making for the selection of the future form of assembly. They thus support companies in analysing to what extent the implementation of qualification-promoting and age-appropriate assembly concepts is economically feasible and how, at the same time, flexibility gains can be achieved for the company and the personnel. In the course of this, in addition to methodical planning aids, platform-independent and easy-to-use web applications are provided in the planning system to support the planning process instrumentally with digital tools. The simulation models to be developed will be transferred to a web application on a pilot basis and tested in the partner companies. Finally, the individual results will be combined into a superordinate action guideline, which will ensure the successful and sustainable implementation of the developed concepts in other companies as well.
